The SAFE program is offered at all 11 elementary schools and is run by the WA-WM Recreation Department. The fee for the 2009-2010 school year is $60.00 per semester which includes a daily snack. SAFE meets Monday-Friday from 3:30-5:30pm (3:00-5:30pm at Horace Mann) when school is in session. The SAFE program provides a safe and supervised environment for students after school. The SAFE program format includes a structured schedule. Daily activities include academic time where all participants will be involved in homework completion or another academic enrichment activity, organized gym games, outdoor activities and play time, snack, and supervised free play. Special events, crafts, community service projects, movie days, etc. will be incorporated in to the program as well. Adult recreation and school district staff in conjunction with college and high school group leaders provide supervision and activity planning for the program. For the safety and security of your child, students will be monitored and checked in daily. Students will not be allowed to leave the program unless they are checked out by a parent/guardian or other designated adult. Behavior policies must be adhered to. These policies include, Respect toward staff and other participants, Use of appropriate language, Participants must keep their hands and feet to themselves, Appropriate use of equipment and supplies, and follow school rules.
