COVID-19 Mitigation Plan

Program & Operation Mitigation Plan

The following document details the West Allis-West Milwaukee Recreation and Community Services Department’s plans for operating winter programming based on the guidelines recommended by the West Allis Health Department, the Wisconsin Department of Health Services, and the Wisconsin Economic Development Committee. This plan is intended to serve as a guide and will be used to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19 through best practices to safely offer programs that enhance the mental, social, and physical wellbeing of our residents. Local public health guidance has been considered in all decision making.

All program participants and staff will be required to wear a mask/covering as is directed through the governor’s Emergency Order #1, relating to preventing the spread of COVID-19 by requiring face coverings in certain situations.

State of Wisconsin, Office of the Governor, Emergency Order #1

COVID-19 Exposure Response Plan: The West Allis-West Milwaukee Recreation Department will use the West Allis-West Milwaukee School District’s “Response to COVID reporting protocols” for confirmed positive cases involving a participant or staff member or any suspected exposure to a positive COVID-19 case. WAWM District Administration as well as the West Allis-West Milwaukee School District Nursing Staff will be notified and consulted if a case of COVID-19 among our participants or staff is confirmed. Programs will consider a short-term (less than 1 week) or long-term (more than 1 week) closure to allow for sufficient cleaning and disinfection.
Winter programs will begin the week of January 4, 2021 in accordance with the City of West Allis Health Department Safe Opening Capacity Guidance.  Program plans continue to practice social distancing with an increase in cleaning, disinfecting and hygiene practices.
