Nikki began working for the Rec Dept. when she was 16. She currently attends UW-Waukesha, and will be attending UW-La Crosse in the Fall of 2017 to major in archaeology. Nikki loves the great outdoors—hiking, camping, ATVing etc. She also loves the water and has been swimming since age two, which eventually prompted her to follow her passion for water and get a lifeguard and WSI certification. We thank Nikki for being for being a dedicated, responsible, reliable employee of our department!

What Nikki enjoys about her job with the WAWM Recreation & Community Services Department…
I love that I am able to teach children to not fear the water, but rather to enjoy it and hopefully love it as much as I do. I love the team of lifeguards, swim teachers and supervisors that I get to see on a daily basis. It’s a fun environment that has a great end goal—to assist people to learn how to swim and hopefully use the skills they have learned from our program. I love my job. I love coming in and seeing that the kids are excited to get in the pool and swim. That means that we are all doing our jobs if the kids are pumped about swimming, especially if they originally were afraid. Being able to turn a child that was terrified of the water, into a swimmer, is a wonderful experience to witness and be a part of.
