Intermediate School Athletics

We have some exciting news to announce!

At the May 21st School Board meeting, the Board of Education approved our department's proposal for a new conference alignment for intermediate school sports programs for the 2018-2019 school year.

What this means is:
  • For Boys Basketball, Girls basketball and Volleyball Only:

FLW and Lane will join the Jr Parkland Conference and compete with - New Berlin Eisenhower, New Berlin West, Elmbrook Pilgrim Park, Elmbrook Wisconsin Hills, Pewaukee, Mukwonago, Kettle Moraine, Oconomowoc Nature Hill, Oconomowoc Silver Lake and Burlington.

West Milwaukee will join the Jr SEC Conference and compete with - Cudahy, South Milwaukee, Whitnall, Greenfield, Greendale, Franklin Forest Park, Oak Creek East, Oak Creek West, Muskego Bay Lane, Muskego Lake Denoon and St Francis.

As a result of the Conference Alignments:
     - 6th Graders will participate in a NEW after school intramural sports program for basketball and volleyball. This will help to create a more inclusive opportunity for all interested athletes during their intermediate school transition year as there will not be a try-out process.
  •  - The 7th and 8th grade seasons will be:
  • Girls Basketball = September-October
  • Boys Basketball = Mid November - mid January
  • Girls Volleyball = February - March
  •  - The Jr. Parkland Conference allows 2 teams at each grade level for boys basketball which will provide the opportunity for more boys to participate.
  •  - If time and space permits, we will schedule Non Conference games for FLW, Lane and West Milwaukee to play against each other.

Athletics are open to all 6th-8th grade students that attend a West Allis-West Milwaukee public school. Student-Athletes will work on building their fundamentals, teamwork, and leadership skills while representing their school against schools based on the conference their sport competes in.

All student-athletes will need a physical on file before participating in either the first day of tryouts or the first practice. If tryouts are required, participation fees will be due after the teams are announced.

Practices take place at the school you are enrolled and scheduled in season between the hours of 3:00pm-5:00pm.  Bus transportation will be provided for athletes to all away competitions.

The participation fee for each sport is $35. 6th grade Boy's and Girl's Basketball and Girl's Volleyball Intramural programs will be at a reduced rate. Rate information will be coming soon.

Participation fees can be paid at the Recreation and Community Services Department located at 1205 S. 70th St., via phone at 604-4900 with credit card, by mail, using the drop box located at the south side of the building or by registering online at Business hours are 8 am – 5 pm Monday through Friday.
