General Information
What does the WAWM RCS Youth Sports Leagues have to offer?
FUN. We want our participants to enjoy their sports experience.
PARTICIPATION. We have specific rules in place to ensure every participant gets equitable playing time.
LEARN THE GAMES. The emphasis is on skill development for the sport you are registering for.
Most importantly, we want to offer a low-demand schedule with less time commitments that allows you and your family the opportunity to spend time together.

- 4k-1st Grade Leagues: Teams meet once a week. Practice and gameplay split between one hour. Season is 8 weeks.
- 2nd-8th Grade Leagues: Teams meet twice a week. One day each for a practice and game. Season is 10 weeks.
- Teams are formed by the RCS Department and coached by volunteer adults. Practices and games are led by RCS Staff.
General Information
Participants should sign up for sports leagues based on the following criteria:
SUMMER - Sign up for the grade they are currently completing or just completed.
FALL - Sign up for the grade they will be going into in the upcoming school year.
WINTER/SPRING - Sign up for grade they are currently in.
Players register as individuals and will be placed on teams. Every effort will be made to group players by school. Players will be contacted by their coach or a WAWM RCS Department staff member prior to the start of the program.
*Due to facility/field changes and updates, field locations are subject to change.
WANTED! Youth Soccer, Flag Football, Volleyball, Baseball & Softball Coaches and Umpires/Officials
Are you interested in getting involved in the awesome field of youth sports? If so, the WAWM RCS Department is looking for highly energetic, outgoing and dependable staff as officials/umpires and coaches for flag football, volleyball, baseball, softball and soccer. You must be at least 14 years of age.
Parent Coaches Needed
Are you looking to create lifelong memories with your child? Sign up now for the 1-2 hour commitment per week as a parent coach. All coaches are required to submit a volunteer background check prior to being approved to coach. All youth participating in sports that have games or competitions must read the documents below and submit the "Parent & Athlete Concussion Agreement" for 4k-5th grade or "Parent & Athlete Concussion & Sudden Cardiac Arrest Agreement" for 6th-8th grade before the first competition or game.

INSTRUCTIONAL BASKETBALL
LITTLE DRIBBLERS | 4K CO-ED
JR DRIBBLERS | 5K CO-ED
DRIBBLERS | 1ST GRADE CO-ED
This program encourages individual skill development. Players will focus on developing their individual ball skills, dribbling and proper shooting form.
At 1st grade, an emphasis will be placed on team play and sharing the ball (passing).
This is an 8-week season in which teams will practice for the first three weeks followed by five weeks of an introduction to gameplay.
BASKETBALL LEAGUES
FAST BREAK | 2ND-3RD GRADE
This is a 10-week season in which teams will practice for the first 3 weeks. (Practice once during the week and on Saturday.)
Weekday practices will be based on availability of volunteer coach at 5:30 or 6:30pm.
Games will be every Saturday and start week 4. Times will vary between 9am-3pm.
SHOOTERS | 4TH-5TH GRADE
The emphasis of our 2nd-8th grade league play shifts to team play and game play strategies. Players will focus on spacing, passing and team defense.
This is a 10-week season in which teams will practice for the first 3 weeks. (Practice once during the week and on Saturday.)
Weekday practices will be based on availability of volunteer coach at 5:30 or 6:30pm.
Games will be every Saturday and start week 4. Times will vary between 9am-3pm.
ALL STARS | 6TH-8TH GRADE

There will be a mandatory skills assessment led by RCS Staff on Saturday, March 5th at 1pm at Lane Intermediate. The coaches meeting will take place following the skills assessment. They will form teams and contact players with team assignments and practice information. There will be a tournament at the end of the season.

T-BALL
4K CO-ED
Players will be introduced to the mechanics of swinging the bat, throwing and running the bases. These basic skills will give players a strong foundation to advance into Rookies coach pitch in 1st grade. This is an 8-week season in which teams will practice for the first three weeks followed by five weeks of an introduction to gameplay.
5K CO-ED

BASEBALL
ROOKIES | 1ST-2ND GRADE CO-ED
Players will face live pitching from their coach! Coaches will throw hittable pitches to players so they get used to hitting a ball in motion. Teams will practice and play a game each week. For the first three weeks teams will practice twice a week. Starting week 4, teams will practice on Tuesdays and play games on Thursdays.

CHAMPIONS | 2ND-3RD GRADE
The first four meeting dates will be practice. After that, Tuesdays will be practices and Thursdays will be games. First game will be Thursday, June 23rd.
PREMIER | 4TH-5TH GRADE
Practice starts Monday, June 13th. The first four meeting dates will be practice. After that, Mondays will be practices and Wednesdays will be games. First game will be Wednesday, June 22rd.

WORLD CUP | 6TH-8TH GRADE
Players will be divided into teams by RCS Staff and contacted by a coach with practice information following the skills assessment. Practice starts Thursday, June 16th.

NEWS ALERT: Flag Football is a non-contact sport. Players wear flags that hang along their sides by a belt. Instead of tackling the person in possession of the ball, the opposing team needs to pull off a flag. While flag football rules are designed to keep players safe, they also create an engaging, fast-paced version of football without the physical contact.

2023 Boys High School Basketball Intramural
Are you interested in playing basketball, but not at a high competitive level? Join our fun and relaxed high school intramural sports leagues. Teams must have at least 8 players on the roster and 1 parent as a "Manager." Depending on the number of teams, we would like to have a 9-10th grade league and a 11-12th grade league. *You are not eligible to participate in WAWM RCS intramurals if you are a member of a WIAA sport team that is in season. Forms and payments can be turned in at the WAWM Recreation Center at 2450 S. 68th St.
