WEST ALLIS, Wis. - The West Allis-West Milwaukee Recreation & Community Services Department will host the Open House for the West Allis-West Milwaukee Community Fitness Center on December 10.

Join the WAWM RCS Department team at the Activity & Fitness Center located at 1300 S. 109th Street as they open the doors to the brand new Community Fitness Center. The celebration will begin at 5:30pm outside the entrance to the Fitness Center with a welcome from Shelly Strasser, Director of Recreation & Community Services, along with an introduction of Jeff Rupnick, Fitness Center Manager, who will share personal training information and options before a self-guided tour.
“Our team is very excited to open the doors to the new Community Fitness Center and invite the public to come and see the incredible space we’ve created for them,” Strasser said. “The amazing work from our partners at CG Schmidt and Groth Design Group have helped to bring our vision to reality and we’re ready to welcome and support community members in reaching their fitness and wellness goals.”
“Watching the Fitness Center rise from the ground up has been a remarkable journey, and we’re excited to finally share it with our community,” Rupnick said. “With top-tier equipment and certified, knowledgeable personal trainers, the Fitness Center has everything you need to pursue—and achieve—your fitness goals.”
On the self-guided tour, community members can tour the locker area that features over 70 secure lockers, the six (6) private changing & four (4) shower rooms which will provide a clean and secure space to complete your workout routine along with the personal training room and the Fitness Center area itself. Inside the personal training room, all the equipment needed for private sessions is available including TRX straps, battle ropes, kettlebells and more.
The Fitness Center features six (6) treadmills, two (2) upright bicycles, two (2) recumbent bicycles, three (3) Climbmills, three (3) ellipticals, two (2) rowers, and one (1) recumbent stepper! For your strength training needs, we offer three (3) half racks, one (1) Smith Machine, one (1) leg press, dumbbells, kettlebells and other free weights, both upper and lower body strength machines, thirteen (13) in total, and two (2) functional cable trainers! After the self-guided tour, community members are encouraged to visit the vendors in attendance including CG Scmidt, ATI Physical Therapy, Nora Mental Health, Milwaukee ER & Hospital and Grace Coffee Company.
The Fitness Center will open to the public on January 2, 2026, but memberships are available now.
