WEST ALLIS, Wis. - On Saturday, August 22 the West Allis-West Milwaukee Recreation & Community Services Department is hosting the 3rd Annual Champion for a Child Golf outing at Wanaki Golf Course located at N50 W20830 Lisbon Road in Menomonee Falls.

This outing, presented by CG Schmidt, provides scholarships for students in the West Allis-West Milwaukee School District, giving them the opportunity to participate in before/after school care programs or youth sports. A donation to the Champion for a Child Scholarship Fund ensures that students in our community have the opportunity to reap all the benefits that these aforementioned programs have to offer, regardless of any barriers they and their family may be facing.
By joining this special event, supporters are helping to transform the lives of youth throughout our district. Every dollar raised directly funds scholarships for essential programs like before/after school care and youth sports (flag football, volleyball, soccer, basketball, futsal, baseball and softball), ensuring that every student has the chance to participate, thrive and reach their full potential..
“It’s a day of fun to create a future full of opportunity for a student in our district,” Program Manager Bobby Foreman said."The WAWM RCS Department is dedicated to helping our young community thrive,” Foreman continued. “To become the best version of themselves, they should have the freedom to explore a wide range of activities as they discover who they are.”
This event eliminates the financial barrier that some of our families face, opening up a path of growth for our youth and ensuring a brighter future for our community. For the WAWM RCS Department, it’s important to come together as members of this community to directly impact the lives of students in our district.
Individual and corporate participation is welcomed and encouraged. The format of this outing is a “Foursome Scramble” where each team plays the one best ball of the foursome for a total team score. The great part is you don’t even have to know how to play golf to be on a team!

The Champion for a Child Scholarship Fund was created in 2009 to help eliminate the financial barrier for kids to be able to participate in before and after school programs and youth sports. With the generosity of our community, more than $21,000 in scholarships were granted in 2026, directly impacting the lives of 68 youth within our district.
